Nerhus Boat yard Olve, Hardanger, Norway

The Nerhus Boat yard established by Ola Nerhus in 1863 This is where Vega was built in 1893

Here is a picture of the  boat yard and sheds where Vega was built at Olve, Hardanger, in Norway. The bigger shed on the right is where she started life in the winter of 1891-92. The boat yard is still in existence and belongs to Lars Nerhus great-great-grandson of Ola Nerhus designer and builder of Vega. Lars recently told us that his great grandfather used to tell him stories about his days as a captain sailing Hardanger jachts and that Vega was always his favorite among the ones he sailed. It seems Vega is and always has been a lucky boat.
