2011 Vega Humanitarian Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 2011 Vega Awards have been selected . These annual Humanitarian awards recognize outstanding individuals and companies who go above and beyond the call of duty to help others and have an affinity with their fellow human beings, exceptional examples of what a humanitarian is – a person who helps improve and enrich the lives of others less fortunate than they are.

Each year, on behalf of the people, organizations, and communities we assist, the Historic Vessel Vega recognizes and awards outstanding groups, companies, and individuals who have saved, improved or enriched the lives of others or society as a whole, through generous donations and selfless service. The recipients of  the 2011 Vega awards are listed below. This was not an easy choice especially in the Corporate Social Responsibility category where we had one company that beyond any doubt deserved that award. Yet we also had three units from that company that together had earned it. The committee voted three times and could not reach a clear consensus. In the end it was decided to split that award among the three deserving units of Jotun Paints.

The 2011 Vega award for Humanitarian of the year is awarded to Bjorn Abraham Bache – of Norway 
in recognition of his dedication and devotion to the betterment of mankind and our environment. 
We are privileged and proud to pay homage to this exceptional world citizen who has demonstrated his dedication to the cause of humanity by devoting a part of his life and resources to the betterment of mankind and the environment. An outstanding example of what a humanitarian is – a person who helps improve the lives of others less fortunate than they are.

The 2011 Vega award for Humanitarian Service to Education is awarded to Leo and Vicki Nagtegaal – of Holland
 in recognition of there dedication and devotion to the betterment of mankind and our environment. 
We are privileged and proud to pay homage to these exceptional world citizens who have demonstrated their dedication to the cause of humanity by devoting a part of their lives and resources to the betterment of mankind and the environment. They provide us all with an outstanding example of what humanitarians are – people who help improve the lives of others less fortunate than they are.

The 2011 Vega Public Service Award for Humanitarian Service is awarded to Kurnia for Hope  – of Malaysia
 for their understanding, empathy, and devotion to mankind through the on going support of better medical services for under-developed communities.  We are privileged and proud to pay homage to this exceptional organization having demonstrated dedication to the cause of humanity by devoting a part of their lives and resources to the betterment of mankind. An outstanding example to us all of what humanitarians are – people who help improve the lives of others less fortunate than themselves.

In recognition of dedication and devotion to the betterment of mankind through their on going support of public health for under-developed communities and for demonstrating leadership and sincerity by incorporating ethical values, respect for individuals, communities, and our environment into the way they do business.
